Algerian Ambassador to Canada on a working visit to Quebec

 

Algerian Ambassador to Canada, Mr. Smail Benamara and the Consul General of Algeria in Montreal, Mr. Abdelghani Amara, paid a working visit on 29 and 30 November 2010 to Quebec City, at the invitation of the Government of Quebec. During this visit, the Algerian diplomats were received by Mr. Jean Charest, Premier of Quebec and by Mrs. Gagnon Tremblay Minister of International Relations and Minister responsible for La Francophonie.

The delegation had also a working lunch with deputy ministers of Departments of International Relations, Natural Resources and Economic Development.

All aspects of cooperation between Algeria and Quebec, particularly in the areas of trade, energy, technology and academia have been reviewed on this occasion.

Mr. Charest has expressed his "satisfaction" about the development of trade and cooperation between Quebec and Algeria, which represents more than ¾ of the business volume between Algeria and Canada.

He also highlighted the “positive” role played by the Algerian community in Quebec, reaffirming his commitment to working to further strengthen the ties of friendship and partnership in the coming months.
