Participation of H.E. Abdelaziz Bouteflika, President of the Republic in the 12th Francophonie Summit At the invitation of MM. Stephen Harper and Jean Charest, namely Prime Ministers of Canada and Quebec, the President of the Republic, Abdelaziz Bouteflika, took part from 17 to 19 October 2008, at the 12th Summit of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF ), As a special guest. On this occasion, the President of the Republic delivered a short speech and expressed Algeria’s position regarding the issues discussed at the roundtables, including: - The international financial crisis; - Stakes of peace, democracy and the rule of law; - The governance and economic solidarity; - Environmental issues.  Meeting with the Prime Minister of Canada On the sidelines of the summit, the President of the Republic held a meeting with the Prime Minister of Canada, Mr. Stephen Harper during which the status and prospects of Algerian-Canadian relations were discussed.
 The President of the Republic held also talks with the Prime Minister of Québec, Mr. Jean Charest.    |
