Who can benefit from the issuance, extension or renewal of Algerian passport?
Any Algerian national residing in Canada and regularly registered at the Algerian Consular Sections as well as members of his/her family (spouses and children) may be issued, extended or renewed passports. The newly-issued passport should be withdrawn by the applicant when necessary.
Requirements
- Consular registration card,
- Old passport,
- Four (04) recent same-print photographs (passport type, dimensions without margins: 1.20x1.40, or 3.0cm x 3.5cm,
- Certified cheque or money order of CAN$ 27.00 in the name of the Embassy of Algeria in Ottawa . We regret we do not accept personal cheques. Cash money is accepted only in our offices. We highly recommend not to send cash money by post or mail.
- The application form provided by the consular section which is also available in this website should be fully completed, dated and signed. (in order to avoid transcription mistakes, please write your full names in Arabic in the appropriate boxes),
Can under age children benefit from an individual passport?
Children above fifteen (15) should benefit from the individual passport. Children under fifteen (15) can be listed in the father's or mother's passports.
Requirements:
To list the child in the father's passport:
Birth certificate for the child (only if this document is contained in the parent's records)
02 recent and same print photographs of the child
To list the child in the mother's passport
Besides the above-mentioned documents, please provide an authorization from the father saying he allows listing the child in his/her mother's passport.
Therefore, an individual passport can be issued to the child under fifteen if the latter is required to travel alone.
In this case, the following documents are to be provided:
Birth certificate for the child (only if this document is contained in the parents's records)
04 recent and same print photographs of the child
An authorization by the father authoring his child to be issued an individual passport,
Certified cheque or money order of CAN$ 27.00 in the name of the Embassy of Algeria in Ottawa ,
A prepaid envelop for returning the documents (all type of protected mail shall be paid by the applicant)
The father's consular registration card or if necessary the mother's card if she is the main registered person.

Loss and deterioration of passport
In the event that the passport is lost, misplaced or deteriorated, the applicant must ask the local competent authorities to issue a loss declaration specifying the place and circumstances of the loss and should immediately notify the consular section of the district where he lives abroad, or the nearest consulate or embassy. The deteriorated passport should be returned when the application for the new passport is submitted.
In accordance of article 62 of the 1994 Finance Law, a tax of CAN$ 95 will be deducted for passport's renewal, loss or deterioration in addition to the fees for passport establishment.
Laissez-passer
It is issued to any non-registered Algerian national who can proof his/her nationality. The laissez-passer is issued for one trip towards Algeria .
