Visite du Ministre canadien des Affaires Étrangères en Algérie

At the invitation of his Algerian counterpart, the Foreign Affairs Minister Lawrence Cannon paid an official three-day visit (9-11 January) to Algeria.

Upon his arrival Sunday, Canadian Minister was greeted at the airport Houari Boumediene by Mr. Mourad Medelci, Minister of Foreign Affairs. "This visit is an opportunity to review the overall bilateral relationship, to examine investment opportunities and to exchange views on regional and international issues." During his visit, Mr. Cannon will hold several talks with Algerian high-ranking officials. "The Algerian-Canadian relations have been marked for over 45 years by mutual respect and mutually beneficial cooperation, reinforced by the presence of a large Algerian community within Canada, particularly in the province of Quebec," indicated the MFA statement. Algeria is Canada's largest trading partner in Africa and the Arab world in the fields of energy, construction, agriculture and education.

Before his trip to Algiers, the Minister Cannon attended a luncheon in his honor offered by the Ambassador of Algeria in Ottawa.




 

L'Algérie et le Canada souhaitent développer davantage leur coopération bilatérale

Algeria and Canada have expressed Monday in Algiers their wishes to “further” develop bilateral cooperation in many areas to cope with the "great potentials" that the two countries possess. This common desire was expressed by Foreign Minister Mourad Medelci and his Canadian counterpart, Lawrence Cannon, during a press conference hosted jointly after their meeting at the El-Mithak residence.  Mr. Cannon said, on this occasion, that Algeria remains the largest trading partner in Africa and the Middle East, while Canada remains a "partner of choice" for Algeria as part of its "ambitious "program of social and economic recovery, adding that his country considers Algeria as a" key player ", particularly within the African Union, the Arab League and the Arab Maghreb region.





 

Le président Bouteflika reçoit le ministre canadien des Affaires étrangères

President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, received on Monday in Algiers Canada’s Foreign Affairs Minister Lawrence Cannon, on a three-day official visit to Algeria .

The meeting was held in Djnane El-Mufti in the presence of Foreign Minister Mourad Medelci and the Minister - Delegate for Maghreb and African Affairs Abdelkader Messahel.
